2. UNINSTALL MASTERCOOK 22
Go to the Add or Remove Programs screen in the Windows settings screen and select MasterCook 22 and uninstall it. See the screenshots below. Do NOT use the Repair option. Use the Remove option. Select YES on the next screen so it removes everything. (You have everything you need if you followed Step 1 above to backup your files.)
3. INSTALL MASTERCOOK 22
Next, use your previously purchased disk or download installation file to reinstall the program onto your computer. At the end of the installation, it will ask if you wish to add your data from a previous version. REMOVE the checkmark from the Yes box so it will NOT add your files from an older version. Finish the installation.
4. CHECK THE FRESH INSTALLATION
After you have installed a fresh copy of MasterCook 22 onto your computer, startup MasterCook 22. Confirm it works as expected. Test any problem you previously had. Do not add your files until you confirm the program works as expected with its own files first.
If you are prevented from doing normal things in MasterCook, restart your computer and try again. Sometimes restarting your computer can fix odd problems. Otherwise, if you have an antivirus program installed on your computer, they can block MasterCook from working properly. You need to add MasterCook's folders and/or EXE files to the Exclusion List for your antivirus program. Below are a few antivirus program's instructions.
- The main MasterCook 22 program is theMastercook22.exe file within this folder on your computer:
C:\Program Files (x86)\MasterCook 22\Program - The Sync Manager program is the SyncManager.exe file within this folder on your computer:

If you continue to have problems with the fresh installation after following the steps above, you need to contact a computer technician who can log into your computer and troubleshoot and find the cause and then fix the problem. We are not licensed or insured to work on computers. Have them follow the same instructions inside this article.
5. RESTORE FROM BACKUP
Once you have confirmed the fresh installation is working as expected, you can now restore your files from backup as explained here: MasterCook 22 Restore from Backup – MasterCook Community
If problems begin after restoring your files, then you know one of your files is causing the problems. See this article: Corrupt Cookbook Files – MasterCook Community
