Generic Format (4 fields maximum) MasterCook will import recipes in Generic format. Generic recognizes four fields, one of which is optional. The fields must be in order: title, notes, ingredients, directions. There are spacing and symbol conventions. Five @ signs tell MC the next line is the recipe title.* Empty lines or lines with a single upright character divide the sections. Five underscore characters can be used to mark the end of the recipe. Try it: Download a copy of the Generic Import Text. MCastercook 3 thru 7 will import these recipes from a file. *The five @ signs are required when importing recipes from a file. The Import Assistant also recognizes the Generic Format's layout. The 5 @ signs are not needed when working with MC interactively and when importing one recipe at a time.
